IPv6 Business Council

Our Charter

It has been proposed and accepted that this council have the following five goals:

  1. The IPv6 Business Council will recruit and maintain approximately 20 representative members from the NA2K.
  2. The IPv6 Business Council will attempt to maximize the awareness, acceptance and usefulness of IPv6 within the greater North American business community.
  3. The IPv6 Business Council will provide a mechanism for any potential business users of a global IPv6 infrastructure to:
    • Be educated as to it’s current capabilities, costs, and limitations
    • Be educated as to it’s possible capabilities
    • Study the business impacts of a probable rollout
    • Mitigate in advance potential adoption issues with greater mutual understanding of the business effects of adoption

Membership in the IPv6 Business Council will be initially limited to a small workable number (20), and membership be voluntary and unpaid. Membership will be drawn from a variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, finance, entertainment, energy, transportation, and the large-scale professional services industry that shapes many large-scale technology acquisitions. Members will be sought in the functional business disciplines including HR, Supply Chain, CRM, Outsourcing, and Finance.

An executive director Fred Wettling, has been nominated and approved. The Executive Director is charged with recruiting initial members, setting initial agendas, ensuring adequate council infrastructure, facilitating discourse, and reporting findings. There will be no fees paid to the executive director.

Nothing this council will do should be construed as anti-trust, as all results will be made public, and no price setting discussions will be permitted to be held.

The Council will meet Quarterly at a minimum, via conference calls, internet-based meetings, and/or linkages with other existing IPv6 events. Reports will be generated quarterly on activities, and joint papers will be provided for review and further publication on a periodic basis.
