Fred Wettling manages architecture and technology standards and strategies for Bechtel Corporation, one of the world’s premier engineering, construction, and project management companies. Wettling’s diverse management background spans most disciplines within IT including enterprise-level architecture, strategy, application development and testing, networks, operations. IPv6 is a strategic technology in direct support of Bechtel’s global business markets such as Telecommunications and US Government Services. IPv6 offers promise to improve agility and open new innovative services to address the network volatility and mobility aspects of Bechtel’s global project-based business.

Fred is active within and outside of Bechtel promoting standards-based technology interoperability that support global enterprise business needs. He has been active in the Network Applications Consortium (NAC) since 1997 and has served as the NAC’s chairman for the past three years. His leadership has expanded of the NAC’s Alliance Partnership to include the Open Group, Distributed Management Task Force, and Liberty Alliance to ensure the “voice of the enterprise” is clearly heard by vendors and standards organizations.

Fred is a long-term member of Cisco’s Technical Advisory Board and is currently serving on the Next Generation Network Task Force (NGNTF) of the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC). Network World selected Fred as #19 of the 50 most powerful people in networking in 2003 and 2004.
